3rd Debate Kerry 'Pat Down' of Bush

Actual footage from 3rd debate.

Good Morning America Oct. 26, 2004
Bush Speaks about bulge :

When asked about the bulge that appeared as he and Sen. John Kerry debated Sept. 30 in Coral Gables, Fla., Bush tantalized conspiracy theorists by saying,
"Well, you know, Karen Hughes and Dan Bartlett had rigged up a sound system ..."

"You are getting in trouble," responded host Charles Gibson.
"I don't know what that is," Bush said. "I mean, it is -- I'm embarrassed to say it's a poorly tailored shirt." Bush said there was no sound system or electrical signal.
"I guess the assumption was that if I were straying off course they would ... kind of like a hunting dog, they would punch a buzzer and I would jerk back into place," Bush said. "That's just absurd."

Bush 'Big Joke' Video
This video is heart-wrenching, but it is a glaring example of everything that is wrong with George W. Bush's presidency and the Bush administration's policies. The original video is from an event in March 2004. During Bush's speech, he thought it would be funny to show pictures of himself (e.g., looking under a desk) while he joked about not finding WMDs in Iraq.

"In the middle of an answer during debate 1 Bush said, "now let me finish" as if someone was interrupting him- yet nobody did- he was talking to the person in his earpiece.

Listen to the mp3 yourself- or watch the video at c-span. did anyone out there record the debate- we've got to get this video clip out there- the president needs an earpiece to make it thru a debate!"

Digital Photo-Analysis of Bush at 3rd Debate

The Economist's poll found that of those who had seen a picture of the bulge, 49 percent think it's caused by "a radio receiver so that his team could communicate with him during the debate.”

When asked about the bulge on Meet The Press, Bush Campain manager said that
"the president, in fact, was receiving secret signals from aliens in outer space."

From NBC News, Meet the Press, October 17:

MR. RUSSERT:  Before we go, Mr. Mehlman, clear up this mystery that has been raging on the Internet.  This was the first debate, George Bush at the podium, the bulge in the back of the suit.  All right.  Come clean.  What is it?

MR. MEHLMAN:  The president, in fact, was receiving secret signals from aliens in outer space.  You heard it here on MEET THE PRESS.

MR. SHRUM:  You mean you sent Rove into orbit.

MR. RUSSERT:  It was not a bulletproof vest or magnets for his back or anything?

MR. MEHLMAN:  I'm not sure what it was, but the gentleman responsible for the tailoring of that suit is no longer working for this administration.

MR. SHRUM:  Well, wait a minute.  Now, the president only wears Oxford clothes.  I'll bet that tailor is still there.

MR. RUSSERT:  May we all be smiling this way on November 2.

Amazing Salon.com article Oct. 15, '04 here says :

Consider, for instance, the testimony of James Atkinson, the president of the Granite Island Group, a countersurveillance firm in Gloucester, Mass. Atkinson is an expert at wiretap detection and bug sweeping, whose clients include both private companies and the U.S. government. "I've done a tremendous amount of work for presidential Cabinets," Atkinson says. "I've worked for Cabinet members, plus staff and advisors ... in the [George H.W.] Bush administration, and in both terms of the Clinton administration." Whenever he's on a job, he uses a spectrum analyzer, a device used to detect signals from all possible sources -- including those used by commercially available wireless prompting systems, the kind frequently used by television broadcasters and actors. When he goes to Washington, Atkinson says he often hears ear-prompting signals coming from the White House. "I have personally sat outside the White House with lab-grade testing equipment -- and have cataloged, monitored and confirmed that wireless monitors are being used," he says. "When you go into a place to check for bugs, every frequency in the spectrum is suspect until you can identify it -- and there are thousands of frequencies. I have found wireless mike signals transmitted during [White House] press briefings, with multiple subject advisors. You'll hear the speaker, and another voice will cut in, like 'It's 28 million' -- and the speaker will repeat, 'It's 28 million.' The speaker will institute certain delays or will ask the question again, and will receive a prompt."

"Bloggers also took the lead in questioning the appearance of a bulge in the back of Bush's suit jacket during the first debate. The relentless online buzz about the bulge ultimately led the national press corps to ask whether the president was getting cues from an electronic device. The White House denied it -- and the mystery of the bulge endures. Bloggers also served as a truth squad when CBS News was duped with phony documents about Bush's National Guard service. Bloggers quickly spotted the computer-age typography in documents that were purported to be from a Vietnam- era typewriter. "

"Comtek's prompting system consists of two main pieces -- a tiny earpiece and an iPod-size "induction receiver." The earpieces are tiny, roughly 1.5 centimeters in length, and a centimeter in diameter. Belgique says that Comtek's earpiece would be visible to those looking directly at the ear of a person wearing the device, but other experts say that newer devices are all but invisible in the ear. "They make them so small these days."

Technical expert: Bush was wired (Salon.com)

Oct. 13, 2004  |  Speculation continues to run wild about President Bush's mystery bulge. Since Friday, when Salon first raised questions about the rectangular bulge that was visible under Bush's suit coat during the presidential debates, many observers in the press and on the Internet have wondered aloud whether the verbally and factually challenged president might be receiving coaching via a hidden electronic device.

Now a technical expert who designs and makes such devices for the U.S. military and private industry tells Salon that he believes the bulge is indeed a transceiver designed to receive electronic signals and transmit them to a hidden earpiece lodged in Bush's ear canal.

"There's no question about it. It's a pretty obvious one -- larger than most because it probably has descrambling capability," said Alex Darbut, technical and business development vice president for Resistance Technology in Arden Hills, Minn. Darbut examined photographs of the president's back taken from the Fox News video feed at the first presidential debate in Coral Gables, Fla., as well as 2002 photos of the president driving and working in a T-shirt on his Crawford ranch, which were posted on the White House Web site.
